About me

20220405_185007.jpg

I received the Eino Jutikkala grant from the Finnish Academy of Sciences and Letters (Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia) in 2021 in order to conduct a PhD in Global Health and Development at Tampere University in Finland. My research specializes in the mobilisation in opposition to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at the UN and European Union institutions and the effects on global health and gender equality more broadly.

Leading the SRHR COVID-19 Task Force for Women in Global Health Finland in 2020, my team and I conducted a global research project on the challenges providers across the world faced in providing access to SRH services during the pandemic, and shared evidence of NGO best practices. Currently, I represent WGH Finland as a Gender Equality Advisor.

Before embarking on the PhD, after 8 years working in the clinical setting across New Zealand and the UK, I completed a Master’s in Public and Global Health with a thesis on the challenges to an agreed language on SRHR at the UN negotiations.

In my spare time, I'm usually wandering the Finnish forests taking pictures of trees, or trying not to break my leg on the ice.. again.
